Crane Specialist will reside within the Construction Equipment & Fleet Services (CEFS) department and will interfacewithBlack & Veatch (BV) BusinessUnits and Entities, providingtechnical inputand guidance, contributing to a safe and cost-effective solution for our projects; creating value for BV and our Clients.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the proposal team to appropriately size and configure cranes, and specific to lift execution, contribute to development of the project execution plan. • As necessary, support lift execution on site, manage company owned crane and rigging assets ensuring maximum utilization, required maintenance, repairs and inspections, including annuals. • Coordinate and track crane utilization, locations, and hours of service, strictly adhering to service intervals established by the manufacturer. • Provide project scope, location, etc., to crane providers in order to aid the construction team with procurement of cranes and to facilitate a clear line of communication for all parties. • Identify potential back charges and out of scope items and support the commercial recovery process. • Familiar with all makes, models and types of cranes. • Adheres to safety and quality standards as applicable to duties and accountabilities. • Contributes to lessons learned for each project. • Ability to travel on short notice. • 3rd party rental inquiries, RFP to crane companies. • Project crane cost estimating • Feasibility survey/studies pertaining to mobile cranes during construction. • Technical evaluation of proposals and bid packages. • Attending business meetings to analyze project/company needs regarding crane & rigging needs in construction. • Facilitate crane and rigging training. • Tracking Black & Veatch inventory within the Wynn System (asset management system) • Organize and manage company owned crane and rigging assets. • Communicate with CEFS Service Manager and orchestrate annual crane inspections, load tests, repair/service, assembly/disassembly and transport. • Provide technical information regarding hoisting as it pertains to Power Generation Construction, Power Delivery, Oil & Gas, Water & Special Projects • Inspection, documentation and filing of all ASME B30.20 (Below the Hook Lifting Devices) • Assisting projects with mobilization-crane data tracking • Retrieving and reviewing technical drawings and specs for analysis • Engineering/drafting of engineered lift plans. • Providing analysis and technical feedback regarding cranes, rigging, gantries, jack & slide operations • Monitor crane telematics and alerts. • Provide estimated ground bearing pressures for heavy lift cranes and transports. • Design crane platform configurations utilizing crane specifications. • Onboarding crane providers • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.

• May require work above 5 feet in height.
• Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
• Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.

• Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions.
• Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.

• Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
• Work around hazardous equipment.
