UL, LLC Corporate Counsel in Austin, Texas

  • Supporting and directly advising business partners on contracts, disputes and strategic business initiatives.

  • Collaborating cross-functionally to resolve commercial, operational, compliance, security, and customer/vendor issues.

  • Researches, analyzes and advises on legal issues related to ULs specific technology and/or services.

  • Reviews, drafts and negotiates agreements, related to ULs specific technology and/or services.

  • Develops terms and conditions for sales and license agreements and vendor agreements to ensure UL is receiving state-of-the art service at the appropriate levels while minimizing risk.

  • Participates in or leads special projects furthering development and providing ongoing product and program counseling support to deploy these products & services globally for our customers.

  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable global, federal and state privacy laws and standards and monitor advancements to ensure organizational adaptation and compliance.

  • Develops, refines and implements policies, processes, and technical and organizational controls to ensure ULs compliance with applicable laws and regulations around the globe.

  • Manages and coordinates legal advice and support of UL Legal with respect to strategic initiatives and provide expertise and guidance to harmonize issues.

  • Consult and coordinate with other UL attorneys, as well as external counsel, as appropriate to ensure the proper approach.

  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

  • JD from a top-tier law school and bar admission plus generally 6+ years relevant experience a fast-paced and innovative global business operations environment.

  • Extensive experience in contract management and negotiations.

  • Extensive, hands-on experience developing and implementing records retention and/or policies and procedures and/or conducting risk assessments and audits.

  • In-depth knowledge of laws and regulations.

  • International business experience and a mix of top law firm and in-house experience strongly preferred.

  • Willingness to travel.
