Within AWS, the Energy & Utilities Industry Business Unit (IBU) is responsible for supporting the multi-national enterprise organizations from the Energy & Utilities sector in their journey to the cloud. The Energy & Utilities IBU is a diverse organization comprised of Global Account Managers, Solution Architects, Customer Success and Partner Sales Managers, Go-to-Market Specialists, Industry Products and Solutions and Business Operations professionals situated across the globe. We are seeking for an experienced Business Analysis/Intelligence expert, preferably with Sales Strategy and Operations, or Finance roots to help us grow the analytical infrastructure our leaders need to grow a sustainable, scalable, agile business. Ideal candidates are passionate about using data to tell a clear story, highlighting insights we have not been previously seen, and doing it faster than before. In this role, you will be a trusted advisor providing analytical thought leadership to our sales operations and business leadership teams. You will develop the unique insights that will fuel dynamic decision making, set high standards, and utilize cutting-edge technology to enable productivity. The role is highly visible and critical to the health and growth of the business unit.
The ideal candidate earns trust through outstanding performance, has strong strategic planning and financial acumen, and has creative ideas for insightful data visualizations. The ideal candidate has the broad technical skills, strong data management skills, and the deep analytics background needed to work across different business unit teams leveraging and sharing best practices. This position is responsible for identifying technical requirements for business metrics and dashboards, partnering with data engineers to execute on those requirements, translating them into compelling visualizations, and providing useful and meaningful analysis for leadership.
The successful candidate must be willing to roll up their sleeves, dive deep to learn, be comfortable working with ambiguity, and have a passion for driving operational excellence.
* Preferred location for this role is Austin, TX. Alternative AWS hub locations might be considered for the right candidate.
Key job responsibilities
• Prepare, analyze, and interpret business results, variance reports, and KPIs to support business decisions and track financial performance
• Present business performance summary and key insights to senior management – surfacing the business performance “the story”, that is supported by the underlying data
• Collaborate building and evaluating forecasts, providing insights into variances and expected future performance
• Conduct complex data analysis and build financial models as needed in order to evaluate business scenarios, support project feasibility, and assist in strategic planning
• Identify areas for improvement in current processes and business operations, propose solutions, and implement efficiencies to support growth

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.
Basic Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
•2+ years of experience at management/ analytics consulting company, banking, or technology company in Sales BI, Business Analytics, Finance or related quantitative functions
•Advanced proficiency in Excel (including VBA, Pivot Tables, array functions, Power Pivots, etc.)
•Experience with data visualization tools such as QuickSight, Salesforce, PowerBi and Tableau, and ability to contribute to ad hoc and deep-dive analysis driving toward team priorities
Preferred Qualifications
•Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Decision Sciences, Business Administration
•Experience in Sales Strategy & Operations in mid-to-large scale global sales organization
•Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects with engaged priorities
•Comfort working in a fast-paced, matrixed organization, with multiple stakeholders across time zones
•Experience in data science, machine learning, and Gen AI concepts and methods using Python/R
