At Amazon Web Services, we have a team of BI Engineers and Business Analysts dedicated to enhancing BI platforms of the future. As our business continues to grow in size and complexity, we are looking for a dynamic, organized, and customer-focused data analytics leader to lead our core analytics team and shape our long-term Business Intelligence and data analytics roadmap.

As the leader of the AWS Training and Certification (T&C) BI team, you will have broad latitude to interpret data (including revenue, individual trained, customer trends, opex, etc.) and influence the organization's senior management. Your team will provide proactive, deep insights into the KPIs and metrics driving the business.

The right candidate will be passionate about building and leading analytics teams, working with large, complex datasets, data visualization, and bringing data forward to answer critical business questions that deepen our understanding of our business drivers. You will manage a team of 5-10 business analysts, BI engineers, and data engineers, who build and streamline data infrastructure, define methodologies, and create self-service business reporting and insight tools for the T&C organization and our stakeholders. You will lead the development of statistical models and work closely with our engineering and data science teams to implement solutions designed to improve our forecasting and planning processes.

This role requires an individual with excellent team leadership and communication skills, analytical modeling expertise, and the ability to work across AWS T&C Product teams, Data/BI Engineering, Finance, strategy and sales teams to drive business outcomes. The role also requires strong people management skills, the ability to lead and guide the team, and the independence and entrepreneurial ability to work with minimal direction and rapid prototyping.

Key job responsibilities

• Develop and implement a long-term BI and analytics strategy to support the organization's goals and objectives

• Enhance self-service reporting capabilities and drive the implementation end-to-end

• Create and deliver advanced metrics, reporting platforms, and analytical models (e.g., forecasting, predictive modeling, scenario analysis) critical for tracking and managing the business

• Partner with functional business leaders to build scalable reporting and business insights solutions including single source of truth for data and reporting

• Use analytics to explain business drivers to senior leadership

• Lead and develop a team of business analysts, BI engineers, and data engineers

• Mentor and develop team members, assist in their career growth

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of business intelligence and analytics experience

  • 5+ years of delivering results managing a business intelligence or analytics team, including employee development and performance management experience

  • Experience with SQL

  • Experience with ETL

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Proven track record of strong communication and data presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of working with very large data warehousing environment experience

  • 10+ years of data warehouse technical architectures, data modeling, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures and hands-on SQL coding experience

  • Ability to think big, understand business strategy, provide consultative business analysis, and leverage technical skills to create insightful, effective BI solutions

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
