Budget Preparation and Financial PlanningParticipate in the formulation and development of the annual budget for EVPP and subordinate units. Participate in the development of budget planning guidelines and tools to support academic budgeting. Coordinate the annual budget process for EVPP and administrative reporting units. Complete and review budget templates and other documents used to submit the budget.Participate in the development of five-year simulations. Collaborate with staff in colleges, schools, and units (CSUs) as well as central offices to make updates to and support the accuracy of simulations.Support annual EVPP planning meetings (DPAC) including collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports, and coordinating the receipt and distribution of materials. Manage spreadsheets and prepare post-meeting memos ensuring accuracy and completeness. Monitor action items and commitments made.Create and maintain financial models including those based on student cohorts, student support, staffing, and programs.Prepare data files, summaries, and briefing presentations using a variety of data sources and business intelligence/spreadsheet tools.Budget/Financial Analysis and ReportingAnalyze budgetary and financial trends and performance of EVPP units including technical and substantive review of budget and financial material, independent research, and consultation with leadership and staff.Monitor budget execution. Analyze variances from budget and projections to prior year-to-date, year-to-date, and year-end close. Review and analyze the operating results of EVPP units. Collaborate with staff to make recommendations for the improvement of financial performance.Oversee regular and ad hoc financial reporting. Collaborate with central offices and EVPP staff to develop and update common reports. Create and run various ad hoc reports as needed.Contribute to the development and support of related dashboards/visualizations produced by other offices (e.g., D2I).Prepare presentations and memoranda for senior leadership summarizing results of analyses.Business OperationsDevelop and maintain expert knowledge of academic business operations. Contribute to and/or manage various special projects supporting business operations in the EVPP portfolio.Supervise the Financial and Planning Analyst. Oversee day-to-day performance, provide mentorship, and encourage professional development.Ensure commitments are recorded and transfers processed in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain allocation records. Oversee processing for various funding programs (e.g., SCH, STARS, NRTE). Prepare related reports and recommend process improvements.Manage the process for review of annual salary adjustments in conjunction with the human resources team. Prepare reports and analyses and make recommendations. Coordinate with CSUs and reporting units providing guidance and responding to inquiries as needed.Monitor reserve and account balances and review reconciliation reports. Make recommendations to leadership to optimize the use of reserves.Serve as backup/surge support for members of the academic business team and/or provide business support to colleges, schools, and units as assigned.Other Participate in efforts to continuously improve processes, procedures, and systems.Conduct in-depth research and analysis on financial, organizational, and budget issues and initiatives to provide senior leadership with information and recommendations, as assigned.Other duties as assigned.
