Columbia Helicopters Inc. Systems Engineer - Senior in Aurora, Oregon

Description

The Systems Engineer is responsible for the systems engineering lifecycle supporting helicopter development, systems integration and system modification across CHI platforms. Interacts with stakeholders to capture and develop and publish system requirements. Develops systems architectures, functions and design solutions. Acts as a Subject Matter Expert during development/implementation. Specifies and leads integration and test activities at systems, system of systems and platform level.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • 25 % Requirements capture and development.

  • 15 % System architecture and solution design.

  • 15 % Develop specifications including Interface Specifications

  • 10 % Working with Technical Project Leadership to perform trade/feasibility studies to assess potential solutions.

  • 10 % Act as SME to development team.

  • 10 % Develop Validation and Verification criteria and tests, including acceptance tests for deliverables.

  • 10 % Define and Coordinate system integration activities.

  • 5 % Provide technical leadership for assigned projects and be the technical point of contact.

  • Conduct oneself in accordance with Company’s Core Values

  • Other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • BS degree in Systems, Electrical, Software or Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years Aviation Industry experience.

  • Experience in a Systems Engineering role is preferred.

  • Experience working under ARP4754A and/or ARP4761 is preferred.

  • Basic understanding of FAA Certification process is desired, specifically 14 CFR Part 21, 29, and 43

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to be able to present ideas, concepts and proposals with a wide range of audiences at all levels, technical and non-technical, internal and external.

  • Excellent technical and analytical skills including logical and critical thinking.

  • Maintain a good working relationship with all team members, stakeholders and customers.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

  • Proficient with Microsoft applications
