We have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer - Chief Architect supporting one of our premier programs in the business unit, where your knowledge of networking, infrastructure, security, and most importantly your experience with designing / architecting solutions will be keep you challenged. This position is on-site role at our Richardson, TX or Aurora, CO campus.

What You Will Do

• Ensure new missions seamlessly integrate with existing program technical baseline

• Develop and maintain improvement roadmaps

• Work with program leadership to ensure effective risk mitigation, testing, and opportunity capture

• Apply scientific and mathematical knowledge when performing engineering tasks

• Use systems thinking to contribute to modeling and analysis and work independently to create system architecture model products

• Review the outputs of systems modeling and analysis, ensuring the results can be used for the intended purpose

• Support and attend technical inspection reviews and technical interchanges in support of the program as the systems architect

  Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 10+ years of prior relevant experience

• Active Top Secret / SCI Security Clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

• Experience with architecture governance and System Engineering design principles

• Experience in ground satellite control systems and a deep understanding of the Tasking Command Processing Exploitation and Dissemination (TCPED) flow

• Experience conducting system architecture in systems that interact with external entities

Qualifications We Prefer

• Ability to decompose and communicate system architecture and governance concepts as well as experience working projects, and/or programs consisting of Ground-related SE, SW development, and IV&V functions

• Strong analytical and problem solving abilities as well as demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with management and individual contributors

• Experience with any of the following: Cloud technologies and migration to the Cloud, Containerization and databases, Automation (Build, Deploy, Test), Agile tool sets (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.), and/or Evaluation of COTS/FOSS

• Experience with different Architecture Frameworks

• Experience working in DevOps and/or DevSecOps in an Agile development environment

• Experience with modeling resources and methodologies (Cameo)

• Thorough working knowledge of: Reliability Maintainability and Availability Analysis, Volumetric and Margin Analysis, Systems and Software Design Patterns, Cloud and On-Premise Hybrid Architectures

• Experience working in or with multiple Engineering Disciplines (Software, Database, Infrastructure, Security, Systems, and/or Test)

• Experience with IT products, services, and operations

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
