Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. Life Cycle Engineering consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our Life Cycle Engineering disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines: Reliability System Safety and Supportability.
What You Will Do: This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Sr. Principal System Safety Engineer to join the Life Cycle Engineering System Safety team based in Aurora, CO.
As a Senior P rincipal System Safety Engineer , your responsibilities will include:
Analysis of engineering hardware and electrical drawings and schematics assessing for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance
Work with test and tactical operating and maintenance procedures to assure the proper administrative controls are in place
Work across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds
Additional responsibilities will include:
Performing System Safety Program or Design analyses
Working with a large system safety program or multiple mid-sized safety programs, including:
Monitoring program technical execution,
Interfacing with stakeholders (e.g. customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors)
Preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval
Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards
Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design
Achieving technical, cost and schedule objectives through collaboration and standard program management tools such as Earned Value Management (EVM), Integrated Master Schedule and Risk and Opportunity (R&O) Management
Presenting at Integrated Product Team (IPT), Program, and Customer Program Management Reviews (PMR) including technical, schedule, cost status and root cause/corrective action topics
Ability to work on a Special Access Program
This job is posted as ONSITE, and is based at Raytheon’s Aurora, CO facility.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically Requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 10 years of relevant experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position
System Safety Engineering, Software Safety Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering experience
Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience in command-and-control systems
Experience with NASA & DoD System Safety Programs
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to manage a safety program and provide direction to supporting safety personnel
Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development
Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
