Our Vision:To end the cycle of poverty and prevent abuse and neglect of children and vulnerable adults (using an integrated two-generation approach) ACDHS uses an integrated two-generation (2Gen) approach to address all of the basic human services needs of the entire family unit. The 2Gen approach begins with a mindset focused on family-centered program design, continues with the alignment of services and resources within the department as well as across multiple organizations, resulting in coordinated services to children and adults together (family) in order to create long term stability and sustainability. The 2Gen approach builds well-being for families by focusing equally and intentionally on high-quality services in five areas of focus: early childhood education, adult education and employment pathways, economic security, health and well-being and social capital. This approach will help us achieve our core mission of breaking the generational cycle of poverty, preventing neglect and abuse and building strong communities.

ACDHS has an exciting new opening for a Professional Development Coach position working for the Child and Adult Protection Services (CAPS) Division. The Child and Adult Protection Services Division provides protective services to children and adults, as well as foster care, adoption, adolescent services, teen parent programs and other services that help create strong, effective families.This position exists to create a structured process by which the coach and coachee co-create an environment to generate self-awareness and desired outcomes. By using specific strategies, tools and techniques, coaching will help identify and eliminate barriers to success. This process is designed to activate a person's potential to maximize their performance and support them in being their best self which contributes to improved practice and outcomes with the families we serve. Duties DUTIES: *Provides one-on-one coaching to coachee in the field such as home visits, court proceedings, family meetings or staffings. *Provides one-on-one coaching focused on discovering values, vulnerability and achieving the coachee's desired outcomes by setting clear and specific goals. *Meets and communicates with supervisor regarding coaching of staff members and planning of future coaching activities. *Co-facilitate Partnering for Safety Training. *Meets with administration as needed to participate in program planning. *Adheres to professional standards that are set primarily through state rules, statutes, and manual regulation.

REQUIREMENTS Skills, Abilities and Competencies: *Ability to build relationships and help others learn. *Ability to create space for exploring and inquiry to activate new ways of thinking. *Ability to coach in a flexible, individualized manner to develop strategies and goals to engage the coachee. *Ability to provide feedback and facilitate reflection including helping the coachee increase self-awareness in regards to strengths and areas for improvement. *Ability to identify and manage resistance. *Ability to model best practice skills and philosophy during coaching sessions or in the field. *Ability to provide feedback in a respectful and sometimes challenging and probing manner while maintaining an objective, non-judgmental stance. *Ability to maintain effective and collaborative working relationship with the coachee and the coachee's supervisor as well as other employees and customers. *Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. *Ability to maintain boundaries and maintain role of coach, refraining from providing supervision regarding case specifics and keeping in good communication with coachee's supervisor as needed. *Knowledge of stre gth-based, solution-focused practice including appreciative inquiry, cultural humility and trauma-informed. *Knowledge of Partnering for Safety practice and all available tools which encourage family engagement. (i.e. the framework, 3 columns, 3 houses, risk statements) *Knowledge of State of Colorado social work statutory and regulatory requirements. *Knowledge of professional social work standards. *Knowledge of the court system. *Knowledge of the Colorado Children's Code, Volume VII. *Knowledge of office procedures, policies and practices; interpersonal skills. *Excellent interpersonal skills. *Knowledge of Microsoft Office suit and State and County computer systems. Ability to learn various applications. *Experience and/or knowledge of the Two-Generation Approach. *Demonstrate knowledge of family engagement strategies and interviewing principles. *Strong interpersonal skills to build partnerships. *Ability to work collaboratively with all ACDHS programs, staff, and existing community partners.

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a major in a human behavior science field* and three (3) years of child welfare experience. OR
