Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • 3D cell culture of esophageal tissues as organoids, with DNA/RNA isolation, PCR analysis and immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy.

  • The candidate will be involved in laboratory management such as overseeing day-to-day operations of the laboratory.

  • The candidate will maintain detailed records of laboratory procedures and actively participate in project planning.

  • The candidate will develop and apply cutting edge techniques to create complex tissue culture models.

  • Once fully operational, one important function will be to train personnel and students in advanced tissue culture techniques.

  • The candidate will assist (co-author) in the preparation of research papers and meeting presentations.

  • Make orders and maintain lab procedures.

Entry Level:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field

  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Intermediate Level:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.

  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • One (1) year professional level research experience.

Senior Level:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.

  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • Two (2) years professional level research experience.

Principal Level:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.

  • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • Three (3) years professional level research experience.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.

  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in an experimental or wet lab.

  • Publication record (peer review manuscripts, meeting abstracts) and/or experience writing and preparing manuscripts/thesis work.

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in an academic research lab.

  • Experience and/or willingness to work with animal models (mouse).

  • Experience with molecular biology techniques, cell culture, rodent models, immunology, cancer biology and/or flow cytometry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Outstanding customer service skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

The School of Medicine's Department of Medicine – Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Research Services Laboratory Science Professional (Open Rank) in the Fry-Francis Lab. The position offers a unique opportunity to work with leading investigators in the field of CAR T-cell development for autoimmunity and T cell-mediated diseases, in a multidisciplinary research environment that features a robust research infrastructure in basic and translational research, including laboratory professionals and trainees working in immunology, oncology, and hepatology. This position includes performing essential laboratory support tasks, both research and administrative, as well as independently conducting experiments under the supervision of the PI. This position is expected to provide scientific and administrative oversight in the day-to-day operations of the lab and will allow for the opportunity to grow into the role of a "Laboratory Manager" in the future.

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.
