Job Overview
The Medical Technologist I is responsible for performing laboratory testing and procedures in any/all areas of the laboratory and reporting timely accurate test results. Our laboratory testing plays a key role in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of pediatric, adult and prenatal conditions. With state-of-the-art laboratory services, facilities and technologies, we support and guide quality patient care across the pediatric spectrum. Our labs offer a wide range of high-quality lab screenings and diagnostic tests with rapid turnaround times, as well as an unmatched scope and capabilities, including diagnostic tests that aren't available anywhere else in the country. The Blood Bank performs patient testing and provides blood products, such as platelets, plasma and red blood cells, to all areas of Children's Colorado. The blood products are prepared for all types of transfusions, including: traumas, scheduled surgeries, maternal intrauterine transfusions, sickle cell patients, oncology/BMT patients and other chronically transfused patients. Additionally, as a level one trauma center for a seven-state region, the Blood Bank Laboratory is prepared for massive transfusions and mass-casualty emergencies. Department: Blood Bank Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits Shift: Evenings (1330-2200) with rotating weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institutio EQUIVALENCY - Meeting one of the other requirements set by the ASCP Board of Certification may be accepted in lieu of degree. CERTIFICATION(S) -Medical Technologist/Scientist Certification ASCP or equivalent or; certification required within 6 months of eligibility. Previous blood bank experience preferred but not required.
