Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions

  • Conduct independent experiments that contribute to the laboratory's goals utilizing a variety of laboratory techniques

  • Tabulate and analyze research

  • Support laboratory research including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting and communicating results

  • Prepare common solutions and stocks

  • Maintain laboratory databases and contribute to laboratory compliance

  • Maintain induced pluripotent stem cell lines

  • Other duties will be as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Intermediate Professional:

  • A bachelor's degree in biology, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, developmental biology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

  • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • One year of professional experience in a lab environment.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One or more years of experience with stem cell culture.

  • One or more years of experience with molecular biology techniques and handling of RNA.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) with a research team

  • Experience with immunofluorescence analysis, biochemistry and cell culture.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, record-keeping abilities and attention to detail.

  • Highly motivated and able to work as part of a team within a research laboratory environment.

  • Able to clearly and effectively communicate with the research team

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.

  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

  • Ability to troubleshoot experiments.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to be adaptable, flexible, and to think on your feet.

  • Supportive and conscientious work ethic.

  • Ability to follow direction of the PI, follow laboratory and department Standard Operating Procedures and department policies.

Seeking a full-time, Research Services Professional to join a research laboratory within the Department of Craniofacial Biology, School of Dental Medicine. The successful candidate will be key contributor to a new and growing lab, supporting projects in the Watt laboratory exploring craniofacial development and disease. The laboratory utilizes zebrafish and cell culture models to study syndromes affecting craniofacial development. To do this, developmental biology and molecular techniques are employed including live imaging, stem cell culture, quantitative RT-PCR, gene editing, and next-generation sequencing. These contribute to the goal of identifying new molecular targets for the prevention of human birth defects. The candidate is expected to manage an independent project with guidance from the PI, including designing experiments, optimizing protocols and analyzing data, and meeting regularly with the PI. Additional responsibilities will include contributing to the maintenance of laboratory records and compliance, and providing technical assistance for projects of other laboratory members. Other duties will be as assigned and commensurate with experience.

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.
