Job Overview

Assists the Director of Operational Continuity and Emergency Management with preparing Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) staff to adequately function during a local or internal disaster by providing organizational wide education on emergency procedures, conducting disaster drills, maintaining disaster equipment and supplies, communicating and coordinate with local community partners to incorporate CHCO disaster response plans with other plans from organizations such as the Office of Emergency Management, state health department, local first responders and other hospitals.The Emergency Manager will have oversight of the Continuity of Operations (COOP) plan.

Qualifications

EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business or a related field. Master's Preferred. EXPERIENCE - 3 years of hospital Emergency Management, Emergency Department, Facilities, or Administrative experience. EQUIVALENCY - Professional experience, beyond minimum requirements, in a related field may substitute for the Bachelor degree requirement on a year for year basis. CERTIFICATION(S) - CHEM or other EM related certification (To be completed within two years of hire.)

Responsibilities

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE No direct patient care. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. Manages the COOP program, coordinates with department managers, and ensures annual completion of the COOP operational profiles.Solicits feedback and recommends changes to the COOP program. Communicates and coordinates with local community partners including other area hospitals, local first responders and disaster response agencies at the local, state and regional levels, e.g. the Homeland ecurity Department, CDC, NDMS, RETAC, Aurora OEM, and CDPHE.Participates on local, state, and regional committees. Oversees CHCO grant funded projects. Coordinates CHCO's grant submittals as it relates to emergency preparedness and maintains eligibility for future grants by working with Administration to fulfill grant requirements. Evaluates and recommends grant opportunities. Ensures completion of required emergency management drills and completion of after action reports.
