Job Title: CLIA General Supervisor (Instructor)

Job Summary:

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for providing the day-to-day supervision of high complexity test performance by testing personnel in the laboratory

  • Works closely with the Laboratory Director to ensure high Quality diagnostic testing, a safe work environment, and compliance across all aspects of the laboratory

  • Be responsible for monitoring test analyses to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained

  • Resolve technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures established by the laboratory director

  • Ensure that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from performance specifications

  • Ensure that test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and test systems are functioning properly

  • Provide orientation and training to testing personnel

  • Evaluate and document the competency and performance of testing personnel

Diagnostic Testing Responsibilities

  • Calibrate instrumentation, validate quality of assay, perform cleaning, maintenance, alignment procedures, quality assurance assays, and troubleshooting on equipment

  • Maintain daily/weekly logs and QC documents for assays and equipment. Assures the accuracy of all tests performed by adhering to the laboratory's Quality Control Standard Operating Procedures

  • Prepare biological material for downstream molecular testing and analysis

  • Perform complex clinical testing including but not limited to nucleic acids extraction, and PCR-based methods and ensure the proper use of all protocols by laboratory testing staff

  • Perform proficiency testing

  • Perform data entry on samples received in laboratory

  • Support inventory maintenance by monitoring inventory levels of reagents and consumables, providing alerts when needed

  • Maintain a clean and safe laboratory space

  • Remain competent in all areas of laboratory and attend relevant trainings/webinars

  • Identifies and reports Reportable Quality incidents to Laboratory Director

  • Adheres to the CAMM Molecular Core laboratory's core values, safety and compliance policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution with a major in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences

  • Three (3) years of experience in high complexity molecular testing in a CLIA lab

  • Prior experience with molecular diagnostics (amplification-based assays)

  • Familiarity with CLIA and State regulatory requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a General Supervisor

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Meticulous and detail oriented

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Enthusiastic to work in a startup environment, with a positive attitude and a high tolerance for ambiguity
