Job Overview

Please join our team of dynamic leaders who support a diverse group of child life professionals in a top 10 children's hospital! Trained in the use of therapeutic play, recreation and educational techniques, our child life specialists guide children and teens throughout their treatment. These services are available to patients at Children's Colorado at no extra charge. As one of the largest and most innovative child life programs in the country, our Child Life Department is leading the way in improving the healthcare experience for kids through therapeutic play, connection, creativity, animal-assisted therapy, gaming and more. The Child Life Supervisor is responsible for leading, coaching, mentoring, modeling best practices, scheduling, managing Paid Time Off (PTO) and day-to-day performance for direct reports. The position provides oversight of patient care and manages patient flow for Child Life at CHCO, and is responsible for ensuring the best patient care possible is provided by child life staff. Department Name: Child Life Shift: M-F, 10:00am-6:30pm, may be subject to change depending on departmental needs

Qualifications

EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related fields. EXPERIENCE - Four years previous experience in providing child life services in a healthcare setting. EQUIVALENCY - A Master or higher degree in a related field may substitute for the experience requirements on a year for year basis. CERTIFICATION(S) - Child Life Professional Certification (CCLS)

Mentors and supports staff on a daily basis, while creating a culture and atmosphere that will lead to a high level of employee engagement. Assigns and reviews work, provides work instruction (OTJ or formal training) and develops team members. Evaluates performance of team members, providing continuous feedback. Addresses discipline and performance issues; hires and fires team members. Identifies resource needs and develops recommendations for meeting needs.
