Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • PhD or equivalent

  • Appointment at VA

  • Research background and history of external funded research projects in host-microbe interactions in the development of inflammatory arthritis and eye disease.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with clinicians, patients and clinical research personnel at an academic medical center or research hospital.

  • Be able to work on several projects simultaneously

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The appointee will develop both independent and collaborative research programs externally funded through government, foundation, and/or industry mechanisms. The role will include being a central participant in the development and expansion of the scientific focus of the VA research community and requires VA appointment. Additionally, participation in collaborative research and training activities of the Division of Rheumatology within the Department of Medicine, the Department of Ophthalmology, and the Section of Rheumatology within the Department of Pediatrics will be a major component of the position. Participating in all three inter-related missions of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, including clinical care, teaching and scholarly productivity are expected. Candidates should demonstrate strong research, interpersonal and communication skills and will be expected to positively interact with technical and professional colleagues, residents and fellows at the University of Colorado Hospital and University of Colorado School of Medicine. The starting salary range () for this position has been established as $120,000-$160,000 (based on full time FTE; part time will be prorated).
