JOB SUMMARY:
Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:
Directs fleet mechanics in the maintenance, inspection, and repair of
transportation vehicles, heavy duty vehicles and equipment.
Interprets and applies company repair and maintenance procedures to provide safe.
and reliable transportation services.
Assists in the development and achievement of department goals.
Ensures all repairs and maintenance activities meet federal and state regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned by transportation management.
Supervises the parts clerk to ensure efficient management of inventory and timely processing of invoices. processes service invoices.
MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans,directs, and supervises maintenance and repair work.Coordinates outside repairs on Company equipment as needed.
Reviews vehicles and equipment repairs to ensure compliance with plans, policies and procedures. May provide training to employees when needed (55%)
Develops and maintains monthly vehicle and equipment preventative.maintenance schedule (5%)
Records work performed and material used. Supervises inventory.control and manages stock levels. Process service invoices.(25%)
Executes corporate wide fleet preventative maintenance and repair programs (10%)
Stays current on training, service bulletins and developments in the field (5%)
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience Required:
High School diploma required with at least 8 years of fleet experience; or associate degree in automotive technology with at least 6 years of fleet experience preferred.
Experience and training as automotive, heavy-duty vehicle or equipment mechanic preferred.
Familiarity with state/federal motor vehicle laws/regulations
Valid commercial driver\'s license (A endorsement)
Valid state inspector license (Light and Heavy duty)
Possession of ASE master Automotive Technician and/or Master medium/heavy truck technician preferred.
Current MACS or ASE certification in mobile air conditioning
Possession of a valid brake inspector certification with supporting documentation as per federal regulations 395.25 (d) preferred
Skills/Abilities:
General personal computer skills.
Knowledge of automotive theory, hydraulics, automotive electronics and diagnostics, heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
Knowledge of state inspection laws.
