About the Role:

This role is part of the People & Places Operations team, which is responsible for leading cross-functional People projects and initiatives for the enhancement of both operational efficiencies and employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle. In particular, this role focuses on Learning & Development initiatives to help employees build the knowledge and skills they need to be successful. This is a fast-paced role where each day will be different from the next and will offer diverse and interesting challenges. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams and colleagues across the People function on global strategy and implementation of People initiatives and projects.

This position is a people manager role that reports to our VP of People and Places Operations. This position is remote and is suitable for hire in any region of the US.

Reporting to VP, People & Places Operations, the Head of Learning & Development will lead the design and implementation of innovative onboarding and Learning & Development programs and tools for the global organization.

What You Will Do:

  • Establish a high-performing L&D function to meet Confluent’s current and future business needs

  • Partner closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the L&D strategy enables us to effectively attract, develop, engage and retain talent, and drives alignment to the company’s mission, vision, and values

  • Build and refine L&D curriculum that aligns to company OKRs and key deliverables

  • Optimize organizational performance by creating and implementing programs that strengthen the knowledge, skills and abilities of our team members. Provide the tools and resources to ensure that they are successful in their current roles, prepare them for their future roles and ensure that we are ready to meet the challenges of our evolving remote-first workforce

  • Work closely with People Business Partners and cross functional stakeholders design programs and processes that are clearly defined, understood, and adopted

  • Implement learning programs including online courses, in person training, coaching and mentoring

  • Design and implement company-wide L&D programs as a comprehensive learning ecosystem, aligned with company goals and employee development needs. Partner with cross functional teams to understand and ensure linkage to company-wide programs.

  • Develop and design onboarding programs that effectively communicate our values and enable a smooth transition as employees join Confluent

  • Establish measurable goals to track the effectiveness and impact of the L&D programs

  • Administer the Workday LMS to optimize program delivery and appropriate timing of company wide training initiatives

What You Will Bring:

  • Independent critical thinker

  • High strategic orientation and business acumen; well-developed team building, coaching, and influencing skills

  • In-depth understanding of L&D and Onboarding programs, both within the People function as well as with department specific initiatives

  • Experience engaging, developing and motivating a L&D team to be high performing and a valuable partner to the rest of the HR function and the business.

  • Demonstrated success building enterprise-wide learning programs that drive cultural transformation

  • Strong understanding of learning principles and emerging L&D technologies

  • Excellent facilitation skills with ability to engage audiences from front-line to executive level

  • Proven track-record of building and sustaining excellent relationships at all levels across the organization

  • Ability to work in a fast moving and changing environment with excellent organization and follow-through skills

  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks with varying degrees of complexity and priority for a global organization

At Confluent, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry standards. We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location. This position has an annual estimated salary of $198,800 - $238,500, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package.
