This is a full-time position located in Augusta and allows for partial telework with management approval.

Core Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for a wide variety of communications- and legislative-related activities and projects that support the programs and operations of DHHS/OADS, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This position supervises a communications-focused Office Associate II that is responsible for answering and responding to public inquiries via OADS officewide phone lines. The primary duties and responsibilities for this position are as follows:

• Engage independently with the Office Director, Chief Operating Officer, and OADS Associate Directors to actively manage and plan programmatic communications to internal and external partners and audiences.

• Plan, develop, draft, and edit external facing communications released from OADS through website publications, Facebook postings, LinkedIn postings, GovDelivery mass emails to subscribers, YouTube videos, and other forms of targeted communications/events. This includes the ongoing monitoring and presentation of communications-related metrics and analytics.

• Coordinate and track all legislative activities and communications for OADS, such as the coordination of all OADS-specific legislative documents and responses between the OADS leadership team and the Commissioner’s Office during the legislative session. Independently interact with OADS leadership to complete legislative documents.

• Coordinate with MaineIT resources to maintain all OADS website and staff intranet infrastructure, being responsible for all maintenance, upgrades, and content-related activities for those platforms.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Public/Community Health, Health Administration, Health Sciences or Health Education; Public Administration, Government, Social Work, or a closely related field and three (3) years professional experience in the planning, development, coordination, and/or evaluation of health programs or services -OR- an equivalent seven (7) year combination of education, training, and experience.

Preference will be given to candidates with professional experience in relevant webpage/content management software (such as Drupal), communication tools (such as GovDelivery), and with the social media platforms listed above.
