The Role
At Lumen, our mantra is simple: Automate everything, all the time. As we migrate our telecom operations to a Network as a Service (NaaS) model, we’re looking for a Business Process Architect who is part engineer, part process optimizer, and all about the details.
The Opportunity
We’re seeking a talented individual who thrives at the intersection of process design, automation, and system engineering. You’ll assist in the discovery, mapping, and optimization of intricate processes, ensuring they’re primed for automation using cutting-edge tools and technologies. From conceptualizing detailed workflows to collaborating with technical teams for implementation, you’ll play a key role in driving efficiency and innovation across our operations.
Location
This role is designated as a fully remote position within the United States.
The Main Responsibilities
Process Analysis & Design: Assist in mapping, documenting, and analyzing current processes with an eye for detail. Help design future-state workflows optimized for automation and exceptional user experiences.
Automation Enablement: Identify opportunities for automation and continuous improvement. Collaborate with teams to streamline human interventions, ensuring a frictionless user experience.
Orchestration & Integration: Support the definition and modeling of processes for automated orchestration using tools like Temporal. Assist in integrating human task management systems, such as ServiceNow, into automated workflows.
Technology Understanding: Work closely with engineers and developers to align process designs with system capabilities. Stay informed about cutting-edge technologies, especially in telecom and NaaS domains, to drive innovative solutions.
Tools Mastery: Use modern process modeling tools like Miro, Lucidchart to create clear, actionable visualizations. Help design project-based workflows for ServiceNow and milestone-based flows for platforms like OneVizion for custom builds and tailored solutions.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and product, to ensure alignment on goals and execution. Collaborate with UX and design teams to ensure flows support an amazing customer and operator experience.
What We Look For in a Candidate
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Typically 10+ years related experience, 8+ years related experience with Masters degree.
3+ years in business process architecture, process engineering, or a related role, preferably in telecom or technology sectors.
Experience with automation-focused tools and technologies, such as Temporal, ServiceNow, or similar platforms.
Background in process modeling with tools like Miro, Lucidchart, or equivalent.
Understanding of system design and the ability to collaborate with technical teams.
Familiarity with modern automation frameworks, APIs, and integration methods.
Preferred Qualifications:
Attention to detail; thrives in complexity.
Passion for innovation, process optimization, and pushing the boundaries of automation.
Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on results.
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges:
$129,639 - $172,852 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$136,121 - $181,494 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$142,603 - $190,137 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
