MaineGeneral Health Behavioral Health Nurse Supervisor (RN) in Augusta, Maine

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursing Supervisor to join our team in the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. Job Description:

The Role: Behavioral Health Nurse Supervisor

The Nursing Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care. This role involves supervising nursing staff, managing administrative duties, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide holistic care to our patients.

Position Highlights:

  • Monday through Friday schedule

  • Work hours are 6:00 am - 2:30 pm (Flexibility is required)

What You'll Do:

  • Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Responds to staff requests for assistance with providing or managing direct patient care in complex or difficult matters.

  • Determines, coordinates, and monitors the flow of patients between units to maximize the use of the organization's resources and meet service-level objectives.

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes. Coordinates patient care services with staff, physicians, and other departments.

  • Responds to complaints/conflicts and manages through established channels. Makes administrative decisions in the absence of the Department Manager/Director.

  • Able to work the floor as charge or floor RN if needed.

  • 6 AM to 230 PM weekday hours (flexibility is required) will be responsible for all night shift staff.

    The ideal candidate will have:

  • A current State of Maine Registered Nurse (RN) license is required

  • Ability to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively

  • Ability to effectively manage time and multiple priorities

  • Proven and demonstrated critical thinking skills

  • Three years preferred leadership position, charge RN considered

  • Must have a passion for education.

  • Desire to grow in management/leadership skills.

  • Experience working in Behavioral Health settings.
