Summary
The Production Planner is responsible for planning of finished goods inventory & scheduling. This position manages internal inventory procurement, and ensures the Company receives the correct ingredients/materials on time. In addition, the position is responsible for entering new products into the system, creating and maintaining purchase orders, and ensuring that the flow of inventory guarantees optimum stock levels to meet production needs.
The Production Planner works out of our award-winning, state-of-the-art production facility in Auburn, KY and reports to the Supply Chain Manager.
Responsibilities
Master schedule and plan all finished goods for the Auburn production
Responsible for the procurement of all packaging associated with finished
Facilitate weekly meetings with the operations teams to review and/or amend the supply plan for the production
Supply chain management support, including assisting in implementing process improvements and assisting in planning, organizing, and evaluating supply chain
Act as the liaison between the corporate Demand Planner and Commercial Services department and communicate any supply issues.
Assisting in analyzing inventory needs based on sales trends, inventory levels and supply/demand analysis
Maintain and update item master data
Working with customer service groups and providing updates
Maintain awareness of internal and external factors impacting supply chain and assist in making alternate arrangements in the event of shortages, overages, or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization
Backfill for other team members, as needed
Perform additional tasks as assigned
Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
APICS CPIM designation a plus.
Minimum two years’ experience in a Supply Chain role that understands commodity atmosphere.
Ongoing training to keep up-to-date on regulations and software used.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Leadership skills and experience.
Familiarity with BATCH MASTER, and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) / MRP (Material Resource Planning) software.
Demonstrated understanding of integrated supply chain and logistics concepts and theories.
Strong analytical and interpretive skills.
Strong computer skills.
Work experience in international purchasing preferred.
Demonstrated work experience of successful JIT (Just-in-Time) management.
Proficient mathematical skills with ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages and averages required.
A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid conflict resolution, and people management skills.
Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments and key business partners.
Able to work efficiently as a part of a team and independently.
Excellent time and project management skills.
Work Conditions
Work environment is in a pet food production facility office; the position works 90% of the time in the office and 10% of the time in the production facility, with exposure to dust, noise, odors, and fluctuating temperatures.
Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
Able to physically inspect company property and assets.
