Responsibilities:
Conducting bank reconciliations monthly to verify the accuracy of cash transactions and their alignment with bank statements
Overseeing cash management operations to ensure efficient disbursement of funds and maintenance of optimal cash reserves
Preparing and presenting internal financial statements on a regular basis, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and company policies
Preparing and submitting the required LM2 reports to the Department of Labor, accurately documenting union financial activities
Performing monthly General Ledger analysis to ensure accounts are accurately maintained and any discrepancies are promptly addressed
Collaborating with senior management to develop and maintain the organization’s annual budget, aligning financial goals with organizational priorities
Preparing and posting journal entries in accordance with company policies and accounting standards
Overseeing accurate reporting and filing of sales and use taxes, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
Collaborating with the CPA firm during financial statement audits and internal audits, providing necessary documentation and addressing any findings or issues.
Special projects as requested including supporting rallies, attending special offsite meetings, other union activity.
Soliciting bids from union contractors for various building modifications, upgrades, etc.
Requirements
The ideal Comptroller candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree with Accounting or Finance Concentration
Other requirements for the Comptroller position include and are not limited to:
2+ years of experience in a similar role, with a strong background in union or non-profit financial management.
Solid understanding of general accounting principles.
Experience with LM2 reporting, DOL compliance, and union-related financial matters is highly preferred.
Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
