Position Summary
In support of Morehouse School of Medicine’s Vision; “Leading the creation and advancement of health equity,” the Department of Surgery is seeking Physicians to join their team.
The Department of Surgery at Morehouse School of Medicine is recruiting a Urology Research Faculty at the Assistant/Associate/Professor rank.
We are seeking a laboratory scientist with exceptional research experience to build and develop an innovative program to conduct basic and translational research related to prostate and other urologic cancers. The incumbent will lead research projects and supervise research projects of residents, as well as undergraduate or graduate students. The incumbent will lecture, conduct demonstrations, and teach learners across MSM enterprise and partner and collaborate with other faculty in the Department of Surgery to advance knowledge, training, and education.
Reporting to the Department of Surgery Chair, the incumbent will conduct, collaborate, and manage scientific research and investigations, participate in the publication of significant results, and advance their expertise through education, training, and research experience.
The successful candidate will maintain a robust, high-quality, extramurally funded research program that complements or brings new dimensions to existing programs in the division.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Molecular Biology.
Exceptional experience running a lab, funded research projects, and managing post-doctoral fellows.
Successful completion of academic and research work has resulted in authorship and co-authorship of papers in peer-reviewed journals while serving as a faculty and as a scientist.
Successful track of funded research projects.
· Evidence of high-impact publications.
· Demonstrated ability to lead research projects from conception to completion.
· Experience supervising an analytic team in a collaborative environment.

Job Responsibilities:
Supervise, mentor, and manage postdoctoral fellows, residents, and undergraduate and graduate students engaged in collaborative research projects.
Collaborate with the Department of Surgery’s Leadership Team to establish research strategy and tactics.
Provide status reports on activities to the Chair and Leadership Team.
Develop research collaborations within the Department of Surgery and across the MSM enterprise.
Publish scientific papers and abstracts, as well as submit grant proposals.
Present findings to colleagues and at academic research conferences.
Analyze and summarize data in original manuscripts, reviews, book chapters, and editorials.

It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID -19 prior to commencement of employment.
