Training Consultant - Program Development (Alabama & Georgia Locations Multiple Positions)

Position Overview

As a part of the Training Support Services department, the Training Consultant offers a range of services aimed at improving performance, efficiency, and effectiveness within a work group through training and development initiatives. This role involves identifying training needs, developing tailored solutions, and implementing initiatives to ensure overall success.

*This posting will be used to fill multiple positions to serve the Training Consultant needs for APC, GPC, and SCS.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Partnership: Build strong partnerships with internal customers, utilizing consulting skills to determine needs and solutions for implementing a comprehensive training program.

  • Needs Analysis: Conduct thorough needs analysis to determine terminal objectives; identify stakeholders, subject matter experts, and intended audience; analyze current tasks, and identify knowledge, skills, and competency gaps.

  • Training Delivery: Identify a variety of instructional techniques such as instructor-led classes, eLearning, AR, simulations, and personalization to engage participants and enhance learning outcomes.

  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with subject matter experts, training coordinators, and instructional designers to develop customized training curriculum tailored to the specifics defined in the training needs analysis.

  • Training Materials Development: Work with instructional design team to ensure new training materials, manuals, presentations, and e-learning modules are created that meet the customers’ expectations.

  • Testing and Tracking: Work with clients and the testing and reporting team to develop formative and summative testing, validated testing or certificate programs, and design learning pathways based on expertise levels.

  • Time Management and Budgeting: Create documentation plans with defined deliverables including project timelines with milestones and projected budgets. Manage the training budget for projects, ensuring efficient use of resources and return on investment.

  • Compliance: Ensure training programs comply with in Training Council and the Training Category Governance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Communication, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.

  • 3-5 years of experience in a training and development role preferred.

  • Experience in consulting with customer groups.

  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, curricula development, alternative learning methods, and technical skills development preferred.

  • Understanding of Learning Management Systems (LMS).

  • Excellent time management, organizational, problem solving, and project management skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively across all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other project management software.

  • General knowledge of Southern Company Generation and Power Delivery is a plus.

Work Location & Schedule

  • The Training Consultant positions will be in several regions throughout the APC and GPC footprint.

  • The team currently has a hybrid work schedule.

  • No relocation assistance will be available.

  • Travel will be 25%.
