Southern Company Talent Management Manager in Atlanta, Georgia

Job Summary :

The Talent Management Manager plays a crucial role in shaping our workforce to meet current and future organizational needs. This position exists to provide operational support and guidance for the Talent Management team in support of all talent management initiatives and functions. In this role, they support the design, development and implementation of talent management processes and programs across the enterprise, along with the needs of the other Talent Management Managers, with specific responsibility for contract management, data/reporting, vendor management, and integrating talent management services and offerings. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a passion for employee development and a proven track record of working collaboratively with stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyze talent management metrics and reports to assess the effectiveness of initiatives and make data-driven decisions.

  • Stay abreast of trends and best practices in talent management and incorporate innovative approaches into talent strategies.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development across the organization.

  • Serve as leader and resource for the design, development and implementation of system-level talent management initiatives to include (but not limited to) leadership and employee development, performance management, employee engagement strategies, coaching, assessments, succession planning and talent review processes.

  • Manage the Southern Company Talent Management vendor relationships, including selection/onboarding, contract management, risk management, compliance and technology compliance, RFPs, invoice submittal and ongoing support needs.

  • Provide consultative support to Talent Management team to support specific talent management needs.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, psychology, human resources, or closely related area required

Knowledge/Skills/Experience :

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources

  • Some supervisory experience is preferred

  • Strong critical thinking skills, problem solving skills and the ability to use analytics to identify trends and implications relevant to talent management.

  • Strongly preferred experience in using Oracle HCM and Power BI, and providing advanced analytics from those tools.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

  • Strong project management, consulting and facilitation experience as well as strong quantitative and analytical skills

  • Ability to develop presentations and communications using data and graphics to inform and influence the workforce.

  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.

  • Proficiency in talent management systems and HR software.

  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.

  • Ability to quickly establish relationships with all levels of an organization.

  • Considerable knowledge and understanding of Southern Company’s organizations and operations/understands the human resource requirements of the region, company, and functional area.

  • Excellent consulting, diagnostic, problem solving and influencing abilities.

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively across OPCO/Business Unit cultures.

  • Experience working in a matrix organization preferred.
