Delta’s Ground Support Equipment (GSE) team is a maintenance and repair organization supporting Delta’s global operation with over 1,200 mechanics/technicians in 114 stations. The organization is a key contributor to Delta’s sustainability goals and is leading the GSE industry in the transition to a zero emissions fleet. The organization contributes engineering, fleet management, technology, analytics, safety, maintenance operations, and training support to the Airport Customer Service division. The GSE Asset Management team is responsible for fleet strategy, modeling allocation, purchasing and disposition of ground support equipment (GSE) across Delta’s entire network. In support of Delta’s pledge to become the first global carbon neutral airline, GSE has put a large emphasis on electrifying our fleet of equipment. Expansion of eGSE depends on industry development of electric variants of equipment and investments in charging infrastructure. Future investment efforts will center around airport facilities that have adequate charging capacity and/or are investing in facilities that are eGSE ready.
The successful Systems Engineer - Asset Management will collect, analyze, and process distributed data into reporting systems and software platforms that enable management decision making and improve complex process efficiency. The data analysis will support the GSE electrification strategy by tracking multiple electrification projects, and the application and execution of grant programs to support and accelerate the electrification of GSE systemwide. We are looking for candidates that can identify, build, and leverage internal and external relationships for cross divisional projects. Sustained attention to detail for will serve the candidate well. This individual will assist with strategic development of Delta’s internal asset utilization modeling software (Inform) and maintain the integrity of our asset management databases (AssetWorks and Smartsheets). This role supports the GSE, ACS, TOC, CGO, OBS, and GCS divisions, which have ownership of all activities across Delta’s global operation and ensures the safety and reliability of equipment for Delta people. The Systems Engineer - Asset Management will (not a comprehensive list):
Assist with creating data architectures and logical/physical data models for oversight of the fleet electrification strategy and Delta ground support equipment allocation planning systemwide
Support development and housing of data-driven analytics for new strategies and models that utilize telematics data for fleet projects
Support program review cadence and build automated reporting
Provide cross-functional support within the GSE Asset Management team to assist where needed and grow knowledge of department processes and systems
Support capital planning and allocation of electric equipment by creating dashboards to identify which stations can support additional electrification
Develop dashboards to track rewarded external funding and timelines for awareness of all stakeholders
Design, develop, implement, and maintain a data warehouse to integrate GSE data from various sources/systems
Manage data migrations/conversions and troubleshooting data processing issues
Build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives
Deliver communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
Develop a process to monitor electrification project execution for capital and operating expenses from internal and external data sources that considers infrastructure, operations, and procurement
Build strong customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions
Identify charging infrastructure funding opportunities via grants and/or external partnerships to accelerate the electrification of GSE
Closely collaborate with Corporate Real Estate, Operations, Sustainability, Corporate Safety, Security and Compliance, and Finance for project planning and implementation
Interact with operational and business leaders to develop and maintain strong internal customer relationships
Create detailed capital replacement plans that meet budget, mandates, and sustainability goals
Advocate to external partners to increase use of Delta electrification standards within the industry and influence over infrastructure and regulations for GSE
Build strong relationships with strategic suppliers
Take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Business, or equivalent work experience
Ability to meet deadlines and commitments, and handle multiple tasks
Must be detail-oriented with an analytical ability and strong oral/written communication skills
Must be able to work well with others in a time-sensitive team environment
Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
Familiarity with project management principles
Ability to manage competing priorities and communicate detailed analytical data through oral and written means
Must be able to consider all relevant facts when making decisions and accept a moderate degree of risk, while knowing when to escalate decision because risk level points to leadership decision
Must be performing satisfactorily in current position
Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data
Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles
Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency
Must be at least 18 years of age and have authorization to work in the United States
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
Experience with SQL, Python, PowerBI, and/or Smartsheets
Data analytics and programming experience
Knowledge of business finance and business management principles
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
Experience implementing Continuous Process Improvement Projects
Understanding of Delta ACS and/or GSE operations
Experience with airport infrastructure
Experience with sustainability, emissions regulation, and grant programs
Superior technical, quantitative/analytical, organizational skills
