WestRock Company Senior Paralegal in Atlanta, Georgia

The opportunity:

Smurfit WestRock is seeking a seasoned Paralegal with excellent organizational and time management skills to support for our corporate and litigation attorneys. This role requires a high degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

  • This Paralegal will support Corporate Functions and/or Litigation attorneys including c-suite executives in managing all aspects of litigation and regulatory practice with a focus on matter support.

  • Handle sensitive/confidential information requiring a high level of discretion.

  • Manage deadlines, track substantive matter developments, case investigation and support, interact daily with employees, in-house and outside counsel.

  • Investigate and gather evidence to then author the first draft of legal documents and letters to be used by lawyers.

  • Oversee and manage responses to subpoenas and other service of process, as assigned.

  • Assist with special projects and training as needed.

  • Assist with other legal support activities, such as separation and settlement agreements, reimbursements, collections, etc.

  • Create and manage matters in matter management and e-billing database (Legal Tracker experience is a plus).

  • Manage litigation holds, custodian interviews, document collection and production working with outside counsel and e-discovery vendors and internal IT resources.

  • Will generate excel documents and power points quarterly for leadership and finance reviews. Comfortable with math and numbers required.

  • Work is performed in the Sandy Springs office. Minimum of 3 days per week in the office, hours are between 8 am - 6 pm.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university is required.

  • Paralegal Certificate from an accredited Paralegal Program and NALA certification is strongly preferred.

  • 5+ years’ law firm experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience with wide range of subject matter areas (employment law experience is a plus but not required).

  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment; well-organized and able to manage multiple and changing priorities.

  • Strong internal and external communications skills and ability to work with remote managers and business leaders.

  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.

  • Energized by change and interested in creating solutions through technology resources.

  • Excellent written and analytical skills.

  • A self-starter able to maintain professional decorum.

  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, TEAMS, and PowerPoint.
