Summary:

The Internal Audit Department’s mission is to provide assurance and advisory services across GAF and its affiliated entities with objective, practical insights. We work closely with executive and functional leadership to provide organizational value through internal controls, risk prevention & mitigation, business process improvements and optimization in order to provide assurance to management that the controls are in place and working effectively. As a member of this evolving team, you will leverage your business acumen and audit background to identify areas of risk and/or opportunities for efficiencies and make valuable recommendations to improve the overall operations and controls of the company.

Additionally, this dynamic role will be committed to partnering with the business to advise and consult on fraud investigations and special projects as requested by management in a non-audit capacity. Key concepts will include the use of technology and systems to further advance the digital transformation of both the company and our Internal Audit Department. Our goal is to influence change across both corporate and the manufacturing plant functions, while balancing the risks and benefits of key financial and operational processes and controls.

The Senior Internal Auditor will report directly to the Director Internal Audit within the Internal Audit Department, and as a Senior Internal Auditor, your responsibilities will include, but not limited to, planning, leading and completing financial, operational and/or compliance audits at GAF and its affiliate entities. Also, this position is an in-charge role with increased responsibilities including the development of other members of the team. The Senior Internal Auditor will engage with auditees as the primary contact for reviews, seeing each step of the internal audit life cycle through to completion. This includes completing pre-audit procedures, executing audit fieldwork, finalizing work papers, reviewing work papers, drafting audit reports for review and communicating with management at various levels.

Essential Duties:

  • Planning and execution of internal audits, consulting, and risk prevention & mitigation throughout the Company. Demonstrate an understanding of complex financial & operational planning strategies to identify issues and recommend creative solutions.

  • Define the internal audit scope and approach, coordinate planning activities with management and the internal audit team and follow-up with management on open issues. Subsequently, report all of the findings to management in a concise and cogentauditreport.And,maintainacomprehensivesystemforrecordingallinternal audit plans, work papers, findings, reports, and follow-up internal audits.

  • Provide client assistance to the external auditor for the annual financial statement audit.

  • Supportthedevelopment&ongoingrefinementoftheInternalAuditstrategyand departmental infrastructure.

  • Proactively engage with and assist the Manager and Director, Internal Audit in development, design, and documentation of the Internal Audit Department’s policies & procedures.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients to address their needs and identify new opportunities for business in both audit and non-audit capacities. This may result in direct involvement with special projects, fraud investigations and system implementations.

  • Participate and contribute as a leading role in special projects as directed.

Under This Roof, We Require

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

  • 4 years’ of experience in an internal audit or public accounting environment, and/or experience within manufacturing environments (preferred) with financial and operational oversight

  • Travel Requirement: 30-35%

  • Designation of professional license (CPA, CIA, CISA, etc.) and/or advanced degree (a plus)

  • Experience with Process Mining and/or RPA (a plus)

  • Intermediateknowledgeofinternalauditconcepts,practicesandprocedures

  • Intermediate knowledge of internal controls, experience in assessing risks and understanding the controls to plan, perform and complete internal audits

  • Strong cost accounting and financial analysis skills

  • Intermediate knowledge of public accounting financial statement & operational audits

  • Intermediateknowledgeofauditworkpaperdocumentation&techniques

  • Supervisory experience and/or direct management of projects

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, critical thinking skills and work effectively on multiple projects

  • Intermediate verbal and written communication skills

  • Intermediate organizational & time management skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to multi-task and appropriately report status to supervisors/managers
