These are the questions we encounter every day here at The Digital Foundry at Carrier. As the new digital innovation studio in Carrier Global, the Foundry launches connected platforms and products that use data to solve big societal issues. Our cross-disciplinary team includes product managers, technologists, strategists, researchers, interaction designers, product designers, and software engineers – all passionate about the ability of technology to change the world for the better.
Designers at Carrier have a passion for built environments, an empathy for lived experiences, and an interest in connected solutions. This role will work on a range of innovation, digital, and design projects critical to Carrier’s continued business growth – spanning from business innovation and branding to digital product marketing to UX research.
The Sr. Design Researcher helps shape design and innovation challenges through a business-relevant, future-looking, and human-focused perspective. While collaborating with designers and product managers, this role will surface critical insights about the behaviors of various audiences – and ensure our digital products are grounded in their lived experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Research:
Design and facilitate research projects using a mix of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Facilitate research, educating and coaching partner roles (PM, BU’s etc.) helping them understand the process and being a design research advocate along the way.
Translate research insights into actionable recommendations that improve existing products and services and inspire innovation priorities.
Communicate research findings and implications to internal teams and partners with clarity.
Strategic Design Research & Innovation:
Meet regularly with Product Owners and Business Units to align on product vision and strategy.
Design and facilitate structured, collaborative problem-solving of innovation challenges in order to align diverse stakeholders around shared solutions.
Be a customer advocate and champion desirable customer experiences.
Surface market trends, user research, and business dynamics to influence strategic development.
Understand complex business dynamics and clarify ambiguous problems.
Plan, design, and execute research activities.
Contribute to the growth and development of the Foundry’s Design Research craft.
Partner with interaction and product designers to advance the end-user perspective.
Continue to build a broad-base of skills across the various aspects of design.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
5+ years of experience leading and contributing to digital innovation projects.
3+ years of experience working with designers, technologists, and product managers.
A portfolio showcasing work samples, product roadmaps, and customer insights demonstrating your expertise.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, design, or computer science preferred
Experience working in a complex matrixed environment with cross-functional stakeholders.
Passion for built environments, technology, and design.
Location considerations:
- Current opportunity to be based in Atlanta, GA or Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Will consider remote for the right candidate.
