Description

Emory Law seeks a professional with a student-centric approach to join our team of dedicated professionals providing academic advising services to our students. As a Senior Academic Advisor, you will be responsible for providing academic advising to JD and LLM students at Emory Law as their primary source of academic advising and planning. This position reports to a Director within the Center for Professional Development and Career Strategy and works collaboratively with other Sr. Academic Advisors to provide services to students across all academic programs within the school.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist and advise students with course selection based on their interests, goals, graduation requirements, and bar tested subjects.

  • Monitor students’ academic progress.

  • Develop communications and update student files in Symplicity.

  • Coordinate and assist with programming with other advisors.

  • Refer students to appropriate law school and campus resources if necessary.

  • Participate in departmental strategic planning and implementing the strategic plan.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Juris Doctor or Juris Master degree from an ABA-Accredited law school, OR a master's degree and seven years of experience advising law students in the United States.

  • Experience working with complex databases, customer relations management systems, and/or student information systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience preparing students for bar exam success;

  • Experience advising international students; and/or

  • Experience working with executive educational programs and mid- to late-career students.

TO APPLY:

  • Final in-person interviews occur the week of August 5.
