Job Overview

Work as a member of the corporate Risk Management team responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining the company’s global commercial lines insurance programs, including the related finance/accounting processes of such programs. Monitor company-wide business activities and operations in order to identify risk exposures. Provide guidance on managing risk and insurance related matters to company’s senior management, other corporate functions and business operations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

● Works closely and under the direction of the Senior Manager, Risk Management on risk management department functions and processes

● Coordinates company-wide domestic and foreign commercial lines insurance programs (including but not limited to casualty, property, aviation, watercraft, foreign liability, executive/financial lines, cyber, professional liability, employment practices liability, environmental and business travel accident) including maintenance, renewals/negotiations, collateral requirements (letters of credit, surety bonds, cash deposits) and pre-funded claim escrow accounts

● Coordinates post-policy year casualty insurance audit processes including compilation of exposure data

● Oversight of company-wide surety and customs bonds

● Oversight of workers’ compensation, casualty insurance and other non-property insurance lines claim processes, including direct insurance carrier and 3rd party claim administrator relationships

● Oversight of company’s workers’ compensation self-insurance insurance program including review/approval of various required state agency filings

● Oversight of company’s workers’ compensation and casualty insurance loss liability accrual and internal allocation processes, including interaction with 3rd party actuaries

● Actively participates in developing and managing commercial lines insurance/related expenses budgeting and internal allocation processes

● Reviews and approves department expenses and allocated company-wide insurance costs, including insurance premiums, 3rd party services and claim/loss billings

● Reviews and approves reconciliations of risk management department managed balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis

● Maintains, and updates as necessary, risk management SOX process documentation

● Provides company-wide guidance and training on contractor/vendor indemnity and insurance program and related certificate of insurance (COI) maintenance

● Provides guidance and recommendations on insurance, indemnification, risk of loss and limitation of liability provisions included in 3rd party contracts (i.e. customers, suppliers/vendors, etc.), and associated requests for corporate exemptions, as requested by company management, legal, procurement and field operations

● Coordinates matters with, and requests from, legal, accounting, division controllers, field operations, internal and external audit

● Coordinates risk management information systems (RMIS) including RMIS vendor relationship

● Generates or coordinates various ad hoc risk management/claim data reports at the request of risk management department management, senior management, division management or field operations

● Provides guidance to senior management, legal, field operations and division management on risk management and insurance related matters

● Participates in merger and acquisition activity as requested

● Assists with property insurance matters, including loss prevention and claims coordination, as requested

● Other duties, responsibilities and tasks as assigned


● Minimum four (4) year bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferably in the disciplines of Risk Management and Insurance, Finance or Accounting

● Risk management and insurance professional designations such Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) a plus

● 7 to 10 years in-house corporate risk management, property/casualty insurance company or brokerage preferably with experience working with publicly traded companies in the manufacturing sector

● Ability to execute in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

● Ability to effectively interact, motivate and train risk management department personnel

● Effective written and verbal communication skills

● Ability to interact and support all levels of the organization

● Exceptional administrative, organization and time management skills

● Detailed oriented

● Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and assignments while meeting competing deadlines

● Proficient knowledge and experience with insurance industry terminology and policy coverages

● Proficient knowledge and experience with accounting (including SOX compliance), finance and allocation processes

● Excellent computer skills and proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook and RMIS systems
