AIG Risk & Controls Analyst in Atlanta, Georgia
About the role
The Risk & Controls Analyst will support the execution of the operations risk & control program. This role will report directly to the Managing Director – Global Controls Governance & Execution and work closely with business, operations, legal, compliance, risk, and internal audit teams.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in learning the organization’s operations and collaborating across teams to improve internal control effectiveness.
Job Responsibilities
Work closely with business, process, and systems teams to document risks and controls, including challenging control design and supporting control deficiency remediation.
Continuously engage with process owners to understand core insurance processes, systems, and data flows, including impact awareness of business process and system changes.
Perform root cause analyses and support control design remediation strategies to address issues raised by Audit, Compliance or Self-Identified; along with participating in meetings with Assurance functions to close action plans.
Participate in team meetings to collaborate and solve control problems, address team questions, and improve the team’s knowledge of the organization, risks, and control governance.
Prepare schedules and reports using Excel and PowerPoint to support the administration of the Risk & Controls Program and present summaries of control testing results.
Lead ad-hoc requests for information gathering, risk assessment, control documentation, remediation planning / control design, and monitoring efforts, when needed.
Ad-hoc support activities to implement a Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) system, including data analysis, library build-out, and report development.
Support activities to keep alignment with Enterprise Resiliency (Business Continuity), Third Party Governance, Data Protection / Privacy, PCI Compliance, and Licensing programs.
What we are looking for
BS/MS degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk, or related experience preferred.
5+ years business experience, preferably with general insurance knowledge.
Strong business acumen with a passion for innovating and driving improvement.
Experience with risk assessment practices and internal control principles.
Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks to completion within deadlines.
Ability to analyze business processes and clearly articulate observations and recommendations.
Ability to work independently and within teams.
Strong Excel skills to analyze and summarize data, and proficient in PowerPoint to present results.
Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to facilitate meetings and discussions.
