Job Description
We are looking for a Project Manager to manage and oversee IT projects. This position will be a full-time contract and remote .
What You’ll Do
Establish and implement project management processes and methodologies for the IT community to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high-quality standards, and meet customer expectations
Perform systems analysis and design needed for the planning, development, and implementation of IT systems
Develop design and functional specifications to provide the best solution for new application development and ongoing maintenance of existing applications
Recruit project staff and consultants consistent with the demands and complexity of the project(s)
Set standards and best practices for the Applications Development team
Coordinate communication with all areas of the enterprise that impacts the scope, budget, risk, and resources of the work effort being managed
Assist Program Manager(s) in partnering with senior management of the business community to identify and prioritize opportunities for utilizing IT to achieve the goals of Commerce
Assemble project plans and teamwork assignments, and manage the details within the project, including:
Developing and maintaining a detailed project plan
Managing project deliverables in line with the project plan
Recording and managing project issues and escalating where necessary
Resolving cross-functional issues at the project level
Managing project scope and change control and escalating issues where necessary
Monitoring project progress and performance
Providing status reports to the project sponsor
Managing project training within the defined budget
Liaising with, and updating progress to, project board/senior management
Managing project evaluation and dissemination activities
Managing consultancy input within the defined budget
Seeking final approval of the design specification
Working closely with users to ensure the project meets business needs
Defining and managing the User Acceptance Testing programs
Identifying user training needs and devising and managing user training programs
Providing regular status reports to the management
What You'll Need
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or other related field/equivalent work experience
Project Management Professional certification
7+ years of project management experience or working with a Project Management Office
4+ years of experience managing projects in accordance with the Project Management Institute standards
7+ years of working experience with IT
3+ years of IT strategy and planning experience
3+ years of experience managing application development projects
Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with technical and user staff
Experience using Team Foundation Server
Experience using the Scrum framework to manage at least one project
Experience facilitating requirements gathering and Joint Application Design sessions
Experience managing documentation in Microsoft SharePoint
Experience with the Information Systems Development Methodologies
Experience with state government projects
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
