KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in coordinating routine activities associated with a research project to include data maintenance, grant expenditure adherence, project evaluation, meeting scheduling, research subject interfacing, light clerical duties and control of equipment and supplies.

  • May review literature for related research developments and techniques, compile findings and generate reports.

  • May serve as project liaison to other departments, outside organizations, government agencies and product representatives.

  • May supervise other staff.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

This is a half-time in-person role to serve as a community health worker on a multisite clinical trial under the oversight Drs. Abby Lott (Grady Trauma Project) and Briana Woods-Jaeger (Emory University Rollins School of Public Health). The clinical trial will be conducted with pregnant Black and African American women utilizing prenatal care and will include in-clinic activities and direct patient contact. Under general supervision in this role, this individual will:

  • Assist with study recruitment according to study protocols and assigned schedules.

  • Conduct enhanced screening intervention (culturally responsive Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) with pregnant mothers enrolled in the study and assist in follow up visits with those mothers as needed. This will include in clinic patient engagement at Grady Memorial Hospital.

  • Maintain records and files of work performed and visits completed in computer databases.

  • Assist with community outreach and advocacy related to the study, including helping with barriers to care engagement for study participants, as well as assist with academic and public dissemination events and annual community forums.

  • Will be expected to attend weekly team meetings and supervision meetings.

  • Interface with our University of Missouri Kansas City colleagues as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a science discipline, business management, or related field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with Black pregnant women in community or healthcare settings

  • Lived experience of navigating prenatal care

  • Working in community settings

Note: An approved CAS Exception is required for anyone who is charged to a federal grant or contract under this job code.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
