Job Description
Job Summary:
The Senior Observability Engineer will be responsible for building and enhancing the observability framework within the organization. This role focuses on evaluating, implementing, and managing tools and technologies that provide deep insights into infrastructure and application stacks. The individual will also drive the implementation of advanced functionalities such as event correlation and management, as well as support the organization's DevOps initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and continuously improve the observability framework across the organization's infrastructure and application stacks. Evaluate, procure, and integrate new observability tools and technologies to enhance system monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting capabilities. Develop and manage advanced observability functions, including event correlation, anomaly detection, and incident management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Infrastructure, Network, DevOps, development, and infrastructure) to ensure observability best practices are implemented across all environments. Define and implement KPIs, SLOs, and SLIs to drive performance and reliability improvements. Automate data collection and visualization workflows for efficient monitoring and troubleshooting. Mentor and train other engineers on observability practices and tool usage. Support the adoption of DevOps principles by building visibility into CI/CD pipelines, microservices, and cloud-native applications. Drive post-mortem analysis and continuous improvement of observability systems after incidents or service disruptions. Ensure high availability and scalability of observability tools and frameworks to meet business needs. Regularly assess and recommend improvements in tool configurations, tuning, and maintenance to optimize monitoring and alerting efficiency. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging observability technologies and practices.
Skills and Qualifications:
7 years of experience in evaluating, deploying and operationalizing monitoring solutions for large organizations. Proven experience in observability engineering, DevOps, or similar roles with a focus on monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting. Strong expertise in tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Stack (ELK), Logic Monitor, DynTrace,Datadog, Splunk, New Relic, and others. Hands-on experience with cloud environments (AWS) and containerized applications(Kubernetes). Experience in configuring and managing event correlation and incident management tools. Solid understanding of application and infrastructure performance metrics, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Experience with automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Bash, Terraform). Knowledge of building and maintaining dashboards, visualizations, and reports for both technical and business stakeholders. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and how observability integrates with DevOps processes. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex technical issues. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
