The opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Mill Capital Procurement Manager team ("Manager"). This critical role will oversee an annual project spend of $100-200 million at mills across North and South America. The Manager will have a focusing on planning of specific portfolio CAPEX projects with a set of North American Mills and the development of a category strategy for specific subcategories across the full portfolio. (process equipment, construction, professional services, etc.). The Manager will play a key role in developing project execution methodologies, as well as procurement and category strategies. This role will emphasize strong internal stakeholder management, collaboration, and alignment, including working closely with other Mill Capital Procurement Manager and Category Managers to address supplier performance issues and ensure category compliance to support successful project delivery.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Strategic Procurement Leadership:

  • Develop and execute procurement and category strategies that align with project objectives and company goals.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including project managers and executives, to define procurement objectives and metrics for success.

  • Lead and guide the Project Procurement Planning and Execution at assigned Mills by implementing procurement plans that meet project requirements.

  • Internal Stakeholder Management:

  • Foster close collaboration with internal teams to understand project and program needs and requirements.

  • Act as a liaison between procurement and project teams, ensuring alignment on procurement strategies and timelines.

  • Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders on procurement progress and potential risks.

  • Category Compliance and Supplier Performance Management:

  • Work closely with other Mill Capital Procurement Managers and Category Managers to ensure compliance with category-specific procurement processes, standards, and guidelines.

  • Collaborate with other Mill Capital Procurement Managers and Category Managers to identify and address supplier performance issues, implementing corrective actions when necessary.

  • Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and contractors and evaluate their performance regularly.

  • Project Procurement Management:

  • Oversee the procurement process for projects, ensuring timely acquisition of goods and services to support project timelines.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop project-specific procurement plans.

  • Mitigate procurement risks and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies.

  • Leadership and Development:

  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.

  • Identify training and development needs and provide opportunities for growth for project team

  • Strategic Planning:

  • Contribute to the development of project execution methodologies and strategies, with a focus on aligning procurement with project goals.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate procurement plans into overall project plans.

  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices to continuously improve procurement processes.

  • Budget and Cost Management:

  • Manage an annual project procurement throughput of $100-200 million in projects, focusing on cost-effective solutions.

  • Implement cost-saving measures while maintaining quality and compliance.

  • Provide regular financial reporting and analysis to executive leadership.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, business, supply chain management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Will consider relevant 10+ years of capital procurement experience in leu of education requirement.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management or project management role, with a proven track record in leadership roles.

  • Strong knowledge of construction and equipment procurement practices, ideally within the pulp and paper industry.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with project objectives.

  • Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills.

  • Excellent leadership and team-building skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Willingness to travel as needed (domestic and international).
