Jacobs Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineer -Hybrid (Flexible Location) in Atlanta, Georgia

As an Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer, you’ll contribute to projects that enable the heart of our clients’ manufacturing processes. Join us and you will have the chance to work on projects including electric vehicle manufacturing, photovoltaic manufacturing, data center facilities, and other state of the art manufacturing facilities. You’ll oversee designer work, provide team technical leadership, perform quality reviews of design packages, and assist directly with the more complex portions of the design process. You’ll also interact directly with the client, owner, and contractors to assist construction on site. You and the other members of your team will work closely with client owners in a fast paced, dynamic environment to establish design requirements and produce construction documents. Your responsibilities will include engineering and design oversight for facility process control, instrumentation, and automation. Design will also occasionally include retrofit of existing building systems to accommodate. Additional responsibilities include the management of quality, scope, budget and schedule. With your solid understanding of all phases of construction document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications, you will prepare technical specifications and documents for bidding and construction and will be our discipline lead or Quality Control reviewer in project meetings. You will participate in project proposals and will suggest proactive solutions to our clients’ potential issues.

Additionally, as an I&C Engineer, you’ll:

  • Implement designs for control of processes

  • Develop specifications and requisitions for instrumentation bids and procurement based on project, process, and client requirements

  • Design electrical circuits and panels for PLC, DCS, and other control applications

  • Develop functional descriptions for the programming of control systems

  • Estimate the engineering effort and total installed cost for controls and instrumentation for new facilities as well as changes to existing facilities

  • Provide process control and instrumentation input to P&IDs

  • Manage scope, schedule, and budget for smaller projects or a portion of a larger project

  • Supervise other engineers and designers (local, remote, and out of the country) to achieve project results

  • Coordinate with project managers and other disciplines to support the needs of the entire project

  • Direct activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and customer requirements

  • Extensive and progressive experience BS or MS in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, or other related engineering discipline

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • A willingness to participate in fast paced, high quality, and highly integrated projects

  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

  • Periodic travel to client offices, plants, and work sites, including international

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Professional Engineering certification in related discipline

  • Experience using Smart Instrumentation

  • Smart Instrumentation or other similar database driven tools

  • Experience with building automation/building management systems

The base salary range for this position is $80,000 to $152,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations [add if remote]. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
