Job Summary:

The Group Manager - Planning & Analysis plays a critical role in leading and driving strategic initiatives for our domestic intermodal franchise. This position provides strategic oversight and leadership for the team managing intermodal equipment and commercial product design. The role involves ongoing analysis of forecasts, capacity, and performance metrics to optimize intermodal services and product solutions. Additionally, this position carries commercial responsibility for railroad-owned rail containers and chassis. The Group Manager will collaborate across all levels of the organization to ensure the growth and profitability of our domestic intermodal operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead and oversee a high-performing team of forecast and equipment managers, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.

  • Yield Optimization: Drive yield optimization and operational efficiency through the development and implementation of innovative yield strategies.

  • Data Analysis: Utilize statistical and data analysis to enhance asset availability and utilization, making data-driven decisions to improve performance.

  • Network Optimization: Manage analyses of network opportunities to boost efficiency and maximize yield.

  • Planning & Forecasting: Lead and coordinate planning and forecasting efforts to support and grow the Domestic Intermodal franchise.

  • Commercial Responsibility: Oversee and manage the commercial aspects of railroad-owned rail containers and chassis, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business, Economics, Supply Chain, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.

  • Experience: Proven experience in pricing, yield management, or revenue optimization within a logistics or transportation environment.

  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage high-performing teams with a history of achieving organizational objectives.

  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools to support informed decision-making.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.

  • Contract Management: Experience in contract management and negotiation is advantageous.

  • Reports to the Director of Planning and Yield.
