    Major Purpose:

    The General Manager (TL) leads a team of highly skilled and motivated managers to provide safe and reliable solutions to our customers and to do so with integrity and a focus on safety. This includes managing equipment, processes, financials, and leading people.

    Job Duties:

  • Supporting operations, growing the business, and keeping Team Members engaged.

  • Needs to be a resource to the Unit Team and Operations

  • Understand Terminal’s unique needs and the relationship between Savage and customers

  • Perform one-on-one interviews to teach and train on Savage strategy, culture, and systems.

  • Perform regional observations to ensure managers regularly inspect safety, cleanliness, and equipment.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to “zero occurrences” by effectively leading the safety, health, and environmental efforts at the operation

  • Participate in the development of the Unit strategy

  • Creating strong teams in the operation that look for improvements and ways to better serve our customers

  • Understand financial aspect of the Savage System (Budget, Projections, Dailies, and Variances)

  • Ensures operations meet all safety and quality performance standards

  • Provides training and leadership in the safety, quality, and maintenance aspects of the Unit

  • Responsibilities are not all inclusive and may change based on the needs of the company.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Able to communicate clearly and positively with managers and team members.

  • A high level of integrity that exemplifies unwavering honesty, trustworthiness and fairness.

  • Able to compile, analyze, and draw insights from large amounts of data.

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and distribution of goods.

  • Able to hire, train, and manage the performance of team members.

  • Able to prioritize, plan, and carry critical projects to completion.

    Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. (A minimum of 5 years managing a team or department may be considered in lieu of a degree.)

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to climb up and down railcars/ladders safely

  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions

  • Willing to work with liquid hazardous materials

  • Can carry at least fifty (50) pounds independently

  • In good physical condition (able to walk one (1) to two (2) miles per shift)

  • Ability to travel to various sites across the organization (60% to 70% travel time)
