Osmose Utilities Services Engineer I in Atlanta, Georgia

Summary

Osmose is looking for an Engineer I to work for the Structural Steel Services team, responsible for asset management services for steel transmission infrastructure of multiple power utilities across the United States.

Under the direction and guidance from project engineers, project managers and department management, this position provides specifications, repair designs, technical documents, reports, calculations, field support, training and quality control that maximizes the value of the company’s industry-leading services and products for steel structures.

This position will be based out of our Atlanta downtown location.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and calculations under the direction of project engineers, including designs in structural steel and reinforced concrete. Designs will vary in complexity and include the restoration and strengthening of transmission lattice towers and large-scale poles.

  • Assist in planning and prioritizing structural restoration, strengthening and corrosion control within project guidelines.

  • Support structure inspections and field work in accordance with contract requirements.

  • Perform engineering assessments, writing reports and technical documents.

  • Review field collected data for accuracy and completeness. Provide field support and quality assurance for assigned projects.

  • Interact with customers via phone, email and web as necessary to support the team goals.

  • Support Pilot and R&D projects by performing data analysis, compiling results and providing support to field data collection activities.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or engineering technology with Civil or Structural focus from an accredited program.

  • 1-2 years of experience in the analysis, design or testing of structural steel, reinforced concrete or soils. Experience in the design of transmission structures is a plus.

  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination and certification as an Engineer In Training (EIT).

  • Willingness to occasionally travel overnight (0-20%), usually for periods of 2 to 3 days.

  • Willingness to participate in additional training and certifications to support the company’s transmission program.
