Southwire Job Description
Reporting to the Vice President and Corporate Controller, the position will be responsible for the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including footnotes, related management discussion and analysis, and supporting documentation. The Director will lead and manage technical accounting research and analysis projects including implementation of ASC 842, leading purchase accounting, transition to GAAP policies for mergers and acquisitions, and valuation activities. The successful candidate is a well-rounded leader with strategic influence, sound business, and a collaborative style.
Key Responsibilities
• Leads technical accounting support and implementation of new accounting and disclosure standards to ensure financial statements comply with GAAP requirements by analyzing, researching, and concluding new and proposed accounting, reporting, and disclosure standards.
• Monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements including the drafting of financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures. Serves as a liaison with external independent auditors and internal stakeholders.
• Leads the accounting close processes for corporate treasury and corporate tax.
• Manages the preparation and review of management’s discussion and analysis (MD&A) of financial results to meet internal and external reporting requirements.
• Oversee internal and external partners in the preparation of annual proxy, sustainability reporting, corporate valuation, and incentive accounting.
• Leads technical accounting support and implementation of new accounting and disclosure standards to ensure financial statements comply with GAAP requirements.
• Partner with operations finance, tax, treasury, and business operations to ensure accuracy and compliance with international statutory accounting requirements.
• Assists with the review of potential M&A targets, including review of target accounting practices and policies, and assessing the impact of Southwire accounting policies. Lead purchase accounting and valuation activities.
• Research and assist in identifying and calculating any statutory to US GAAP differences with international subsidiaries. Supports the understanding and compliance with US GAAP accounting standards, Southwire internal control procedures, and practices to assure the achievement of company financial objectives, protection, and leverage of company assets.
• Develops technical accounting training for the finance and accounting team.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's
Specialized Degree: Accounting, Finance or similar
Certificates: CPA or equivalent
Years of Experience: 8-11 years
Field of Expertise: Accounting
