Position Summary

The Center for Maternal Health Equity aims to pursue equity in maternal health by reducing maternal morbidity and mortality by building and strengthening community engagement and advocacy. The Project Director will direct the planning, development, and implementation of an NIH -funded Maternal Health Research Center of Excellence, the Center to Advance Reproductive Justice and Behavioral Health among Black Pregnant and Postpartum Women ( CORAL ), that represents a partnership among Morehouse School of Medicine, Emory University, and community partners. CORAL is charged with developing a community-driven research infrastructure, conducting rigorous research in partnership with communities, and building the capacity of the next generation of investigators. CORAL’s Project Director will be responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and strategic direction of the grant. This role requires strong leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. The Project Director will work closely with the Principal Investigators (PIs), Co-Investigators, and other key personnel to ensure the successful implementation and management of the grant.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Business Administration or a related field

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva

  • Strong working knowledge of industry regulations and legal guidelines

  • Experience in developing budgets and business plans

  • Superior negotiation skills for both internal and external purposes

  • Strong working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics.

Job Duties

Description of Job Duty

Principal Responsibilities:

Grant Management:

  • Oversee all administrative aspects of CORAL .

  • Ensure compliance with NIH guidelines, policies, and reporting requirements.

  • Coordinate and manage the submission of progress reports, renewal applications, and other required documentation.

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the objectives of CORAL .

  • Work with the PIs and Co-Investigators to set priorities, allocate resources, and develop timelines for project milestones.

Financial Management:

  • Develop and monitor the budget for CORAL .

  • Ensure proper allocation and utilization of funds in accordance with NIH regulations.

  • Prepare financial reports and projections for review by the PIs and other stakeholders.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and coordinate the Administrative Core team, including hiring, training, and supervising staff.

  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.

  • Facilitate communication and coordination among project teams and cores.

Project Management

  • Coordinate and oversee activities across different cores and projects within CORAL .

  • Organize and lead regular meetings with project leaders and core directors to discuss progress, challenges, and opportunities.

  • Ensure effective integration and collaboration among various components of CORAL .

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for NIH program officers and other external stakeholders, alongside the Contact Principal Investigator.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with collaborating institutions, community partners, other NIH -funded Centers of Excellence, and other key stakeholders.

  • Represent CORAL at conferences, meetings, and other events.

Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Develop and implement evaluation plans to assess the effectiveness and impact of CORAL .

  • Collect, analyze, and report data on project outcomes and performance metrics.

  • Use evaluation findings to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and institutional policies, including IRB and IACUC requirements.

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with project implementation and administration.

Communication:

  • Work with communications manager to develop and disseminate communication materials, including newsletters, reports, and presentations, to inform stakeholders about the progress and impact of CORAL .

  • Work with communications manager to maintain an updated and informative website for CORAL .

Professional Development:

  • Stay current with NIH policies, guidelines, and best practices in grant administration.

  • Pursue professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.

Immunization Requirements

It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID -19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
