Whole Foods Market Bakery Cake Decorator, Pastry Chef - Part Time in Atlanta, Georgia

Job DescriptionResponsibilities

  • Assembling and finish cakes and pastry products.• Understand and adhere to kitchen procedures and policies.• Follow all standards and guidelines set forth by USDA, FDA, and Whole Foods.• Abide by all Safety regulations set forth by OSHA and region or state.• Complete all necessary trainings on all equipment necessary to perform daily responsibilities.• Responsible to monitor, clean, and maintain all equipment necessary to perform daily responsibilities.• Organize, stock, and rotate daily baked and received walk in products.• Maintain, organize, and clean walk in• Proper labeling and dating of all products.• Preparation of any non – prepared tart dough and some mixes.• Understand and adhere to kitchen procedures and policies.• Ability to complete all task in a through and timely manner.• Comply with all applicable Health and Safety Codes.• Communicate and maintain employee safety and security standards.• Ability to comply with all WFM/Bakehouse policies and procedure by following all established job specific set-up, production, and breakdown procedures as outlined in kitchen policies and procedures.• Arrive to work on time, wear appropriate PPE, work all scheduled shifts, complete required training and attend required meetings.• Ability to read and speak basic English.• Must be 18 years year of age.• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor, Associate Team Leader, Team Leader, and Facility Leadership.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • • 1 yr of cake decorating experience preferred• May be required to prepare other products according to daily production.• Ability to prioritize tasks• Ability to take direction• Ability to learn proper use of bailer• Ability to learn and perform proper and safe usage of all Bakery equipment• Excellent verbal and written communicator• Understand the importance of all waste, spoilage and transfers to department• Ability to work well with others, self-motivated and capable of working independently with little supervision.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Exposure to temperature variations• Uneven surfaces of varying textures• Reach above and below shoulder height• Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours• Ability to lift up to 40 lb unassisted.• Ability to pull/push up to 100 lb.• Ability to perform repetitive use of right/left hands for smoothing cakes, pipe fillings, ice cakes, cupcakes, as well as, simple grabbing, pushing and pulling. While exact time may vary for each task, constant use may be anywhere from 1-7 hours during a shift.

Availability Requirements

  • • Average shift are 8 hours long• Ability to work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed• Team Members receive their schedule up to 3 weeks in advance.
