Execute and continuously improve robust quality assurance reviews that contribute to providing the General Auditor and stakeholders with assurance of the quality of Truist Audit Services' performance in the effective delivery of a proactive, risk based audit quality assurance and improvement program for Truist. This program fulfills the mission, obligations, and expectations of the Audit Committees of the Boards of Directors of the Corporation and various Subsidiaries, and Executive Management, and provides services to other members of management and various external stakeholders, including various regulatory agencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  1. Serve as Engagement Manager on high risk and more complex Quality Assurance Review engagements. Types of quality assurance reviews may include audit engagement, audit process, QA or regulatory issue validation, and/or retrospective reviews.

  2. Execute and improve robust quality assurance reviews that, taken together, contribute to the overall evaluation of Audit Services’ conformance with internal policies and procedures as well as the Standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors and supervisory expectations. This includes: (i) Planning review engagements in line with Audit Services’ quality assurance methodology and approach, (ii) execute review engagements, including the gathering of sufficient, competent evidence and compilation of high-quality work papers to document work performed and conclusions reached, communicate with review participants to create transparency and understanding related to the quality assurance review process, (iii) communicate results of review engagements, including making recommendations related to review opinions and the basis for such recommendations and review issues.

  3. Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload in a dynamic environment with demonstrated solid subject matter expertise in reviews in areas of specialization and through engagement with audit delivery teams.

  4. Access a network of audit professionals at other financial institutions, public accounting firms, and professional associations to enable (i) monitoring of trends and developments in banking, financial services, internal audit practice, and supervisory expectations; (ii) identification of potential enhancements in internal audit practices, processes, and methodologies; and (iii) benchmarking comparisons of Audit Services’ performance.

  5. Identify enhancements to be integrated into professional development programs, the quality assurance review program and the audit process.

  6. Operate within departmental and bank budget and expense guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related field or equivalent education and related training or experience.

  2. Six to eight years of experience combined with a specialty area (such as compliance, risk management, lending, and/or IT)

  3. Strong knowledge, skills and expertise within a large bank environment in the domains of professional internal auditing, risk management, regulatory supervision and general banking business activities, with specialized expertise related to supervisory guidance, supervisory expectations and/or professional internal auditing standards.

  4. Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, facilitation and negotiating skills

  5. Ability to work in and/or lead teams, make sound decisions, and be comfortable seeing and defining the “big picture” while leading and executing detailed work tasks

  6. Ability to influence without authority across all levels of the Audit Services organization as well as with external stakeholders, and effectively challenge others and work strategically to accomplish review objectives

  7. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office products

  8. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Enterprise risk management SME within a Model Risk/Model Risk Management domain strongly preferred

  2. Demonstrated Audit QA experience within a financial service setting

  3. Prior regulatory examiner experience

  4. Professional certifications: Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) and/or Financial Risk Manager (FRM)
