Ohio University Postdoctoral Researcher in Comparative Biomechanics in Athens, Ohio

Job Description:

Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Postdoctoral Researcher for Dr. Williams is to contribute to research projects focused on feeding functional morphology and biomechanics, utilizing established experimental and comparative methods, such as XROMM , electromyography, and diceCT. This includes disseminating research through writing, co-authoring papers, and delivering presentations for publication. Candidates must have a desire to participate in mentoring and will be expected to contribute to the broader scholarly environment within the lab as well as the Ohio Center for Ecology and Evolutionary Studies (https://www.ohio.edu/cas/ocees) . This is a two-year postdoctoral position in the lab of Dr. Susan Williams, with the possibility of extension to a three-year term.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Plans and conducts research projects within the laboratory with a focus on feeding functional morphology and biomechanics. Perform experiments, collect and analyze data, maintain accurate records of research findings, and provides statistical analysis of the data results.

  2. Disseminates research by writing and co-authoring papers, presenting findings at professional meetings, and contributing to publications.

  3. Collaborates with research staff, faculty, and mentors graduate and undergraduate students. Demonstrates strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in comparative anatomy/biology, biomechanics, or other related field.

  • Applicants who have “all but dissertation ( ABD )” will be considered but will be required to have their Doctoral degree conferred within 6 months of hire.

Advertised Salary:

The targeted salary range for this position is $50,000-$65,000 per year. Pay is commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience in relation to the minimum qualifications for the position and is accompanied by our generous university benefits such as free tuition for self and dependents, a comprehensive insurance package including but not limited to:
