Ohio University IT Product Manager in Athens, Ohio

Job Description:

The IT Product Manager leads innovation as well as design and delivery of continuous improvements to an assigned portfolio of products, services, business capabilities, and experiences within OHIO University’s Office of Information Technology ( OIT ). With lifecycle responsibility from planning to execution, the Product Manager collaborates with key stakeholders to develop product vision, roadmaps, resourcing, and budgets, using agile product management practices and dynamic leadership of cross-functional teams to maximize value for OHIO University. This is a high impact, visible, and strategic role that directly supports Ohio University strategic initiatives.

Primary Accountabilities:

  • Lead Strategy: Identify trends and strategic market shifts 2-5 years out. Work closely with stakeholders and senior University leaders to set objectives and priorities. Lead and facilitate product portfolio focused communities and committees as part of IT and Product Governance. Lead cross-functional teams to plan and execute strategic and transformative technology initiatives. Create, maintain, and communicate roadmaps. Promote and market products and services appropriately.

  • Manage & Coordinate Resources: Ensure service levels are maintained to service level agreements. Monitor service levels and report service performance metrics. Communicate service information with stakeholders. Identify opportunities for service improvements and enhancements. Manage the internal and external expenditures for the services to established budgets with support from the business service center. Forecast future expenditures for service/product operation, including investments or divestments. Translate service priorities for run, grow and transform activities to resource managers and ensure prioritized work is being completed at expected pace and quality. Lead product and service teams of cross-functional resources. Resolve resource and priority conflicts with resource managers. Provide employee performance feedback to resource managers.

  • Financial Management: Create and manage budgets for assigned portfolio, including monthly variance reporting and investment/divestment proposals. Manage internal and external expenditures to established budgets. Forecast future expenditures including investments or divestments. Track and report on effort using the run, grow and transform model. Resolve resource and priority conflicts with resource managers. Articulate current and future resource demands to managers.

  • Drive and Support Process and Practice Improvement: Actively contribute to the continuous improvement if IT product and service management, project management, and resource management processes and practices.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field

  • 6 years professional experience (including but not limited to any of the following: product management, business administration, information technology, teaching and learning technologies, leadership)

*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree

  • Experience with planning, developing and managing budgets

  • Experience in cross-functional teams in a matrix environment

  • Strong analytical skills to drive results that have measurable impact

Advertised Salary:

The target salary for this role is $88,000 – $102,000 depending on candidate’s experience and qualification while considering internal equity.
