Saint-Gobain Continuous Improvement Engineer in ATHENS, Georgia
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer will implement all facets of the continuous improvement program, including World Class Manufacturing (WCM), Six Sigma, and Lean processes, emphasizing sustainable process controls and cost reduction. This position is an early career position, therefore the person will collaborate heavily with other engineers and teams not only to develop their own knowledge, skills and abilities, but develop effective collaboration and project management skills necessary for the role.
Develop and implement WCM, CI, Lean, Six-Sigma, DMAIC, TPM and activities and analyze and monitor key performance metrics aimed at reducing costs and improve safety, quality and productivity at plant.
Develop and implement sustained improvements by working with plant management and functional teams to monitor and interpret Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Must-Win Battles (MWBs). Develop and propose Kaizen, A3, Pillar and Lean events/sessions for plant/floor employees.
Collect and analyze data to understand operational losses and define opportunities for improvements and determine plant assessment for WCM implementation, standardization, and sustained improvements.
Develop short- and long-term continuous improvement and safety projects and conduct job safety analysis and create documentation and maintain in document control management system and create and maintain KPIs for project validations.
Provide technical support and develop methods to ensure capacity/capability to minimize production delays, assure quality and meet or exceed customer requirements.
Provide site representative support for Industry 4.0 and IT related projects.
Develop and monitor uniform processes to resolve issues at plant using proven industrial engineering problem-solving tools and methods and creating critical mass of trained practitioners who can scale techniques across the plant.
Identify and analyze root cause of manufacturing issues and delays and process solutions, including through developing experimental approaches.
Analyze and diagnose manufacturing issues collaboratively with process engineers, quality engineers and reliability engineers to improve manufacturing processes.
Conduct analysis and synthesis data from various internal testing platforms and external applications at customer sites.
Collect and analyze data using Data Acquisition Systems and collaborate with stakeholders to establish necessary changes based on findings.
Provide support or training relating to WCM standards and tools (5S, SMED, EWO, etc.)- for continuity plant-wide.
Conduct process trials and studies on new equipment and validate quality of equipment and processes.
Plan, design and estimate time and cost of process improvement projects and maintenance processes.-
Develop and support the implementation of work standards, including the development of user manuals and troubleshooting instructions related to components failures. -
Develop site WCM roadmaps and single agendas and research and recommend changes to manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs and contribute to global projects and process improvement activities.
Collaborates with EHS, management and leadership to ensure safety awareness and safe work practices, engage operators in continuous improvement activities and safety initiatives.
Work cross-functionally and collaboratively to execute site improvement plan to achieve budgeted performance metrics and cost reductions
Prepare and deliver presentations to management and other stakeholder and provide engineering advice for the plant
The successful candidate will have a Industrial Engineering or another Engineering Field (Process, Mechanical, etc.)
1-3 years’ experience Working in an early career engineering role, and can include as internships, externships, co-ops or CertainTeed EOM program Required
3 months to 1 year experience Working in a manufacturing setting Preferred
Certified Lean Training or Six Sigma Certification Preferred
Knowledge of Continuous Improvement Ideology Preferred
Exposure to 5S Training Preferred
