Columbia Memorial Hospital Patient Financial Services Representative in Astoria, Oregon
ELIGIBLE FOR CMH EMPLOYEE REFERRAL BONUS: NON PRIORITY RECRUITMENT
This position is responsible for billing and/or follow-up of patient accounts. Provides outstanding customer service to patients, guarantors and third-party payors by assisting with questions and concerns relating to CMH’s patient account billing. The PFS Representative submits timely and accurate bills to insurance companies and patients. This position maintains current knowledge of medical billing regulations, forms and processes. Assist patients with account inquires and issue resolution. Duties include, but are not limited to, obtaining accurate information from patients, answering and initiating phone calls, data entry, insurance billing, account follow-up and public contact. Job Requirements Knowledge of /Skill/Ability to: REQUIRED: Moderate level of interpersonal skills required in order to assist patients/insurance companies via phone and in person. PREFERRED: Moderate level of analytical ability required in order to review/research patient/insurance companies’ complaints/ concerns as necessary General office skills including phones and keyboarding; computer skills, including data entry and keyboarding; and 10-key; communication skills; ability assess emergency situations and work well under pressure. Minimum of (2) two years previous medical billing, third party, agency (Medicare/Medicaid). Patient follow-up experience strongly preferred; medical terminology and knowledge of various reimbursement/ billing formularies (ICD-10; CPT 4; DRG) strongly preferred.
License/Certification: n/a Education and/or Experience: Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in medical office setting such as hospital admissions, billing, or medical office preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology preferred. Physical Demands and Work Environment Conditions / ADA Compliance Position involves standing, walking, stooping, and occasional carrying and lifting of lightweight materials (up to 20 pounds). May be required to sit for extended periods of time. Requires visual acuity and depth perception to recognize words and numbers; and hand and finger dexterity and hand/eye coordination to use a computer keyboard and common office equipment.
