Columbia Memorial Hospital Hospital Concierge in Astoria, Oregon

The Hospital Concierge is responsible for creating a safe and welcoming environment for hospital patients, visitors, and family members. In addition to welcoming and greeting, this position is responsible for assisting patients and visitors with directions, general inquiries. This position is not responsible for direct patient care. Job Requirements:

  • Must be dependable and caring individual with ability to communicate courteously and effectively with patients, families, visitors and staff.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively communicate information face-to-face.

  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in case by case scenarios.

  • Ability to work effectively within role independently and with other team members.

  • Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English.

  • Ability to understand medical/surgical terminology.

    Licensure/Certification: N/A Education and/or Experience: Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • General healthcare experience

  • Customer service experience

  • Healthcare student (i.e., MA, RN)

    Physical Demands and Work Environment Conditions/ADA Compliance:

  • Physical Demands-Stooping, turning, pushing, bending, squatting, kneeling and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; constant/repetitive standing; requires normal, correctable vision and hearing

  • Must be able to stand/walk for entirety of shift as well as sit for long periods of time if needed.

    Position Accountabilities:

  • Greet and welcome patients, family members, and visitors in a professional manner while maintaining the highest standard of customer satisfaction

  • Provide accurate and clearly stated directions to patients or visitors

  • Assist with check in process and monitor patient registration tracking system

  • Perform lobby rounding to ensure patients are kept aware of wait time expectations

  • Assist in resolving real-time patient concerns

  • Alert nursing personnel immediately to any signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction

  • Remove visible hazards and/or broken equipment from immediate environment and reports as appropriate

  • Keep hospital lobby clean and stocked with supplies. Alerts appropriate department for service issues.

  • Assists patients and visitors by providing wheelchairs when appropriate.
